Assistance in Organization of In Vitro Fertilization

In vitro fertilization is an assisted reproductive technology which is used in case of infertility. It is the process in which woman’s egg cell and a man’s sperm are brought together outside the body.

During IVF process, the egg cell is taken from woman’s body and artificially fertilized in «in vitro» (“in test-tube”) conditions. Afterwards, the obtained embryo is kept under incubator conditions where it develops within 2-5 days. Then, the embryo is transfered into uterine cavity for further development.

ТThe IVF technology is carried out in specialized medical institutions under conditions of outpatient treatment. In order to make the procedure of in vitro fertilization, it is necessary to get the egg cells and sperms, conduct in vitro fertilization, grow embryo and inject the embryo into the woman uterine cavity.

It is necessary to prepare the egg cells to start with. Mostly, the egg cells are taken from the very same mother. Generally, it is better to get several egg cells for in vitro fertilization, as it increases the efficiency of infertility treatment with a help of this method. As women normally have one mature ovum during one menstrual cycle, it is important to obtain several egg cells via so-called “stimulation of superovulation” procedure. In order to do this, patient is prescribed injections of hormonal drugs.

It is required to obtain seminal fluid from the partner to conduct in vitro fertilization.

When the embryos are grown enough, they are transferred to the woman’s uterus. Beta hCG test should be done two weeks later. The test may confirm or disprove pregnancy.

Further pregnancy proceeds as normal under supervision of the doctors from maternity center.
