Permanent Residence

To apply documents for a permanent residence in Lithuania on the basis of the item, the foreigner must, within 5 years continuously renew the residence permit in Lithuania. According to the new requirements of the Migration Department the foreigner during each year must reside in the territory of Lithuania, 10 months a year. Also, to apply for permanent residence foreigner must pass an examination on the Lithuanian language and the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania.

Documents required for permanent residence application:

1) Passport and a copy of the passport;

2) The current temporary residence permit and a copy of it;

3) Fill prescribed form;

4) Provide 2 photos 40 × 60 mm;

5) Pay a fee;

6) A statement that the foreigner has passed an examination of Lithuanian language and the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania;

7) A standard petition form for the issue of a permanent residence permit;

8) Documents proving that the foreign person, on the basis of Article 53. 10 p. law “On the Legal Status of Aliens”, lived in the Republic of Lithuania, the last 5 years. And during this period do not leave the territory of the Republic of Lithuania for more than 6 months in a row, and for the entire 5-year period such trips outside the territory of the Republic of Lithuania totaled no more than 10 months;

9) Proving documents that the alien has sufficient funds to stay in Lithuania for at least 1 year (eg., an extract from a bank account, and so on). And / or receives regular income, the size of which is not less than subsistence level prescribed by the Minister of Social Security and Labour and enough to stay in the Republic of Lithuania.

Documents should be provided when a foreign person would be maintained by a family member:

The obligation of the member of the family to support a foreign person and provide a document proving that he has sufficient funds for its foreign persons living and residing in the Republic of Lithuania for at least one year and / or receive regular income for their stay and residence of foreign persons in the Republic of Lithuania, the size of which, attributable to each person in the maintenance of family members, including most of the family members, not less than subsistence level prescribed by the Minister of Social Security and Labour and enough to stay in the Republic of Lithuania;

10) Documents confirming the change of personal data, if specified in the application for issuance of a permanent residence permit the personal data of the foreign person does not coincide with his personal data in the Register of foreign persons and / or in the Register of inhabitants of the Republic of Lithuania.

Documents which an alien must provide for authorization of long-term resident of the Republic of Lithuania to reside in the European Union (hereinafter – a permanent residence permit) (prior to submission of the foreign person is obliged to pay the state fee specified size for examining an application for a permanent residence permit):

1) A standard petition form for the issue of a permanent residence permit (filed within 3 months from the date of arrival in order to stay in the Republic of Lithuania);

2) Passport with a valid Schengen visa and a copy of passport;

3) Provide in the free form an application for a permit for permanent residence to a foreign person as a member of his family, arriving in the Republic of Lithuania for staying and living together. This application should be composed by a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania;

4) Documents confirming that a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania before his arrival with a foreign person, had lived in other country;

5) Documents proving that the foreign person is a family member of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania;

6) Proving documents that the alien has sufficient funds to stay in Lithuania for at least 1 year (eg., an extract from a bank account, and so on). And / or receives regular income, the size of which is not less than subsistence level prescribed by the Minister of Social Security and Labour and enough to stay in the Republic of Lithuania.

Documents which an alien must provide for authorization of long-term resident of the Republic of Lithuania to reside in the European Union (hereinafter – a permanent residence permit) (prior to submission of the foreign person is obliged to pay the state fee specified size for examining an application for a permanent residence permit):

1) A standard petition form for the issue of a permanent residence permit (filed within 3 months from the date of arrival in order to stay in the Republic of Lithuania);

2) Passport with a valid Schengen visa and a copy of passport;

In cases where an alien has been granted a certificate confirming the right to the preservation of the Republic of Lithuania citizenship certificate confirming the right to recovery of citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania, a certificate confirming Lithuanian descent, or if the Migration Department has not decided to maintain the right to citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania any decision to grant a certificate confirming the right to recovery of citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania, or certificate of Lithuanian origin:

Documents that confirm, that a foreign person till 15.06.1940 had Lithuanian citizenship, mentioned in 4p. or 5 a. 38 “Citizenship law”, or provide documents that confirm that he has Lithuanian roots, mentioned in 39 a. “Citizenship law”;

Documents proving the family relationship with a person of Lithuanian nationality until 15.06.1940, if the foreign person is a descendant of such person;

Documents proving the change of name or surname where such personal information in these documents do not coincide with the personal data in the travel document of a foreign entity;

3) State fee payment

4) Document proving that a person has not a criminal record in his living state. Required to provide from 14 years.
