Osteochondrosis is a complex of dystrophic abnormalities in articular cartilage. It can occur in almost any joint, but mostly affects intervertebral discs. Depending on the localization, there are cervical, thoracic and lumbar osteochondrosises.

Complications: Complications of osteochondrosis include diseases such as protrusion, herniated disc (intervertebral hernia, herniated spine), kyphosis and radiculitis.

Scoliosis is a three-plane deformation of human spine. Curvature can be congenital or acquired.

Spondylolysis is nonunion of vertebral arch (usually the 5th lumbar vertebra) into interarticular area or in area of arch of crura that occurs as a result of development delay of back spine.

Schmorl’s nodule (cartilaginous Schmorl’s nodule, Schmorl’s nodule). Schmorl’s nodule is implied in breakdown or mush of closing plate cartilaginous tissue into spongy bone, internally body of cephalic vertebra and inferior vertebra. Mostly it is hereditary or it appears in childhood under rapid growth of child. Soft tissues can stretch with increasing of child’s growth, but bone tissues are lagged behind. Therefore, voids are made in spongy vertebra body where vertebral closing plates are forced in with time.

Protrusion of intervertebral disc is a pathological process in spine, where the intervertebral disc protrudes into spinal canal without breaking fibrous ring. It is not a separated disease, but one of the stages of osteoarthritis followed by hernia. Mainly, it is localized in lumbar spine and less often it is localized in cervical spine.

Intervertebral herniation (herniated disc) is a dislocation of nucleus pulposus of intervertebral disc with disruption of fibrous ring. The most common are hernias of intervertebral discs of lumbosacral spine (150 cases per 100 000 people in a year). Significantly smaller number of hernias is observed in cervical spine and the most rarely occurred is hernia in thoracic spine.

Incorrect and irrational nutrition, lack of movement and stressful situations will result in atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a disease that affects the great vessel. Thus, there is deposition of cholesterol in the vessel wall, resulting in atherosclerotic plaque narrowing lumen of the vessel. It leads to significant decrease of blood flow in the affected vessel where decrement level of blood flow is usually proportional to the level of stenosis (narrowing) of the vessel.

Prostatitis is inflammation of prostate gland tissue (its edema). This term defines inflammation of prostate gland. Prostatitis could be developed only in males.

Erectile disfunction or impotence is erection disfunction during which volume of penis, its hardness and straightness are not sufficient for sexual intercourse.

Male and female infertility is inability of couples in childbearing age to conceive a child with regular sexual life.

Pregnancy miscarriage is inability to keep pregnancy up to 38 weeks of a term.

Hysteromyoma (metrofibroma, uterine leiomyoma) is benign tumor that occurs in muscle layer of uterus, called myometrium. Myoma node is glomus of chaotically interlacing smooth muscle fibers in a round shape. Most nodes have a diameter from a few millimeters to a few centimeters. However, sometimes these nodes can reach large sizes and weight of several kilograms.

Inflammatory diseases of pelvic organs organs are characterized by different symptoms depending on the level of affect and the force of inflammatory response. The disease develops as a result of penetration of causative agent (Enterococcus, Bacteroides, chlamydia, mycoplasma, ureaplasma, trichomonas) into genital tract under presence of favorable conditions for its development and reproduction. Such conditions are created in postnatal or postabortion periods or during menstruation and also during different intrauterine manipulation such as IUD insertion, hysteroscopy, hysterosalpingography, diagnostic curettage.

Female splanchnoptosis is displacement of vagina or uterus outwards. Genital prolapse is the final stage of the process.

General symptoms of endocrine system diseases: constant or periodical weakness and fatigue; body weight gain or reduction; body temperature drop or increase; blood anemia or hyperlipidemia.

Epilepsy is one of the most common chronic and neurological human diseases which occurred in propensity of organism to sudden seizures.

Diabetes is a group of endocrine disease, developing as a result of absolute or relative (violation of interaction with target cells) deficiency of the insulin hormone, causing hyperglycemia development. Hyperglycemia is a permanent increase of glucose in blood. The disease is characterized by chronic course and abnormality of all types of metabolism such as carbohydrate, fat and protein, mineral and water-salt.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease under which myelin sheath of brain and spinal cord nerve fibers is affected. The disease mostly occurs in young and middle age (15 – 40 years). The main feature of the disease is simultaneous affection of several different parts of nervous system that leads to variety of neurological symptoms.

Alzheimer’s disease is a disease under which certain system brain cells (neurons) die. It leads to development of senile dementia. During the Alzheimer’s disease, there is deposition of protein in brain in form of ‘senile plaques’ and the formation of so-called neurofibrillary glomus, consisting of damaged neurons. Both of these processes lead to destruction of nerve pathways of the brain. The first symptoms may appear even after 40 years and then, occurrence of the disease may come up to 30% after 70 years.

Parkinson’s disease is a disease associated with progressive loss of motor nerve cells (neurons) that produce dopamine neurotransmitter. It causes abnormality in regulation of movements and muscle tone which is occurred as a typical tremor and trembling or as general stiffness, movement and posture disorders.
